The Unexpected

Sometimes something unexpectedly placed is just perfection and shouldn't be any other way. Or at times if the scale and balance between furniture, art and the size of the room are a little off it can be beautiful.  Here is to the unexpected.  I hope you're Wednesday brings you just that!

How A Beastie Boy Lives

Michael Diamond's and Tamra Davis' 3,200 SQF Brooklyn townhouse is both charming and playful. Clean white walls, colorful art and the original architectural details work perfectly together.  The red and white Brooklyn themed toile wall paper is Diamond's own design. Check out the rest of this Beastie Boy's home in the New York Times!

Perivolas Hotel

Perivolas Hotel is tucked away on a corner of the cliff above the Aegean sea on the island of Santorini.  The location and the stark simple interiors of the hotel is perfection.  A great place for reflection and settling the mind.  My next holiday destination!!  Enjoy.

The Golden Mean

I often find myself having serious conversations with my clients and friends about the importance of vignettes, and the balance between tabletop accessories and wall art.  Hey!  this is a very important topic that brings out my passion!  It's all about layering- starting with the piece of furniture then adding objects of different heights and textures.  After the perfect combination of accessories (including lamps) are achieved or what I like to call the golden mean of accessorizing, you then want to add art work.  Often times I will work with the objects and art work together, moving them around until I feel I've reached the best aesthetically pleasing combination.  The table top accessories should work together with the art.  Wall art should never be floating weirdly above the pieces.  Always think "layer and stagger".   Below are some great examples of the golden mean of accessorizing.  Enjoy!

Host!

As you can see I'm completely obsessed with everything at Host judging by the amount of photos in this post! It's my new favorite restaurant and I've never even been to Copenhagen, but I've always wanted to go and now I have more of a reason!  Torben Klitbo's restaurant contains so many details and elements that are perfection; The simplicity of the stucco walls, the textured wooden tables that are partnered with the smooth Scandinavian chairs.  The black industrial lights which add a touch of edge.  And to finish it all off, the dinnerware designed by New Norm is the perfect contrast to the interiors.  These photos have put a little perk in my morning, no need for my green tea!  Bon Apetit or should I say, Velbekomme!
