Simon Upton - His Brilliance

One of my favorite photographers shoots the most amazing spaces I have ever seen.  Simon Upton's work appears in publications such as The World of Interiors, Vogue, Elle Decor and Architectural Digest.  He's like the fashion photographer, Mario Testino of Interior Design.  His brilliance and eye has allowed him to shoot homes and architecture that contain so much character.  Each image tells a story.  Enjoy!

Happy Fall

My favorite time of year is upon us.  The days are getting shorter, nights cooler and the smell of natures decay is in the air.  Here are a few images I've collected to inspire.  Happy Fall!

A Tribeca Loft

Just had to post this one today.  Have a look at Vera Wang president Mario Grauso's, 3.000 square foot  loft he shares with his other half, Brood designer Serkan Sarier located in Tribeca. They have a nice looking collection of curiosities combined with just the right balance of color, texture, refinement and cozy.

Rustic Charm

The images below are of James Huniford's Bridghampton home photographed by Robyn Lea.  I was once a designer at Hunifords firm and I remember helping him decorate this home.  James "Ford" has a great sense of style and really knows how to marry different era's together.  I learned a great deal from him.  My appreciation for Early American and Mid Century furniture even grew more while I was employed at Huniford Design Studio.    Ford rarely buys new.  I think he is one of the reasons why I also never purchase new. He is all about old, worn, mildly crude and rustic charm.  His Bridgehampton home is a great representation of just that.

Oliver Gustav

I am over the moon for Oliver Gustav, his studio and living space in Copenhagen, Denmark.  The antique garden shop is filled with vintage objects, statuary and furniture.  Each piece full of character!  Above his shop is his beautiful living space pictured just below.  I'm looking forward to taking a trip to Denmark and visiting Gustav's moody, dark and beautiful studio.

Ariel Alasko's Studio

Brooklyn based wood worker Ariel Alasko makes some nifty tables, but I love peeking in her work space.  It's so rustic, worn and old looking.  She built her studio inside a larger space.  She framed and built the walls herself along with insulating, sheetrocking and soundproofing it.

Check out her cool blog, Brooklyn To West  and you can also check out her living space in Design Sponge which is equally as charming as her studio.
