I can certainly relate to this story in the NY Times.  Interior designer, David Hopkins sleeps in a tiny closet in this Chicago apartment and rents out the bedrooms to support his decorating habit!  You do what you have to do to live in a space that you love!

This TriBeca loft with its rough brick walls and dramatic windows perfectly cocoons owners Arne Svenson's and Charles Burkhalter's collections of the obscure and taxidermy wild things.  They are big fans of displaying objects in glass domes, just like me!  Have a look at the NY Times article. 

Decorating With Vintage

This is decorating with vintage and salvaged at its best.  Hillary Robertson and Alastair McCowan decorated their Fort Greene Brooklyn apartment with vintage European furniture and industrial finds.  I appreciate the way they combined traditional lines with more modern.  This helps to bring the spaces to life, but the fantastic  architectural moldings and windows contribute also!  Read more of the Staple-Gun Decorating in Fort Greene article here. 

Moroccan Charm

Since I'm going to Morocco this spring I've kept my eyes and ears open for anything Morocco.  Reading the NY Times this morning an article titled "Shaping Morocco to Their Needs" caught my attention.  Charming little house that cost $11,000 just outside the city of Marrakesh, Morocco.

From Box to Brilliant

From the NY Times. A boxy apartment in Mumbai renovated and renewed by owner/designer Ashiesh Shah.  Removing a total of nine walls gave him the opportunity to plan the space brilliantly with smart material choices.  I dig his accessory and furniture collection as well.

Sticks and Stones Make a Home

I've been following Patrick Dougherty's work for a couple years now, and in the past year I've heard so much more about him.  Several articles have been written about his work, he was asked to do an exhibit at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens (the last picture) , and he even has a book that was recently published.  Now, this week in the NY times his log cabin home in Chapel Hill is featured. Of course it's been built by Patrick's own hands, and he continues to add new rooms to the cabin!  Stick by stick, stone by stone...  

Pontifell on Bookends

“Bookends are meant to perform a real function,” Luke Ives Pontifell says of Thornwillow Press “When a book is allowed to lean on an angle like a flying buttress, to keep the rest of the shelf of books from falling over, it becomes vulnerable.
