16th Century Classics

A little Tuesday inspiration from a few of my favorite classical artists/engravers.  All from the 16th Century, these detailed engravings are by Battista Palumba, Nicoletto da Modena and Albrecht Durer.  Enjoy

Where Two Rivers Meet

Just off the banks of 2 rivers that meet in Bayonne, France is a workshop occupied with flea market finds, sculptors, curios objects and rope wrapped furniture.  This is the studio and home of artist, designer, perfumer, artistic director, and jewelry designer Christian Astuguevielle.  He is known for casing furniture and objects in tight bundles of rope or cloth which is sought after by Nate Berkus, Philippe Stark and Bottega Veneta to name a few.  His studio/workshop is a place of bewilderment.  The juxtaposition of odd shapes, textures and quirkiness is what makes this space a little jewel of creativity.

Friday Inspiration

Some Friday inspiration to get me back on my feet!  This week has been a bit of a downer with the loss of power in downtown Manhattan, walking around the neighborhoods that have been devastated by Sandy and watching the news which is exhausting! But here are some images by Swedish photographer Anna Kern to help get me back in the groove.  I hope all is safe and well wherever you're at.  Happy Friday!
